AMULYN Personal Care Ingredients
AMULYN Carbomer is a high-performance polymer and effective rheology modifier for formulation development. Its three-dimensional network structure supports high clarity together with thickening and suspending performance across personal care, household care and industrial products.
Ingredient profile
Carbomer is mainly composed of acrylic acid and sucrose or pentaerythritol allyl ether crosslinked to form a three-dimensional network structure polymer. This structure gives Carbomer its characteristic rheological properties.
Different rheology properties make formulations more diverse. The source sheet lists Carbomer for lotions, gels, creams, shampoos and shower gels, as well as household care and industrial products.

Product performance
All listed grades are described in the source sheet as white powder. The sheet also compares flow behavior, relative viscosity, luminousness, ion resistance and shear resistance. Use the current technical data sheet for exact test methods and values.
The supplied performance table lists white powder appearance for the Carbomer grades shown.
Short-flow and long-flow behavior, together with relative viscosity, are selection dimensions shown in the source material.
Evaluate electrolyte tolerance and shear sensitivity in the final formulation, especially after neutralization and during processing.
Application scenes
Use real application images to connect the ingredient with the buyer's product development process.
Suggested visual: clear gel in a beaker, pump bottle or finished personal care package.
Suggested visual: lotion, cream, shampoo, shower gel or styling gel application.
Suggested visual: detergent, hard-surface cleaner or other approved household-care application.
Prescription recommendation
The source sheet provides the following example formula. It is an application starting point, not a universal finished-product formula.
Preparation steps
Follow the source sheet's sequence and validate mixing, neutralization and viscosity in your own process conditions.
Dissolve Carbomer powder in water and allow it to fully dissolve and expand.
Add glycerin and stir well to achieve a uniform mixture.
Add triethanolamine to obtain the transparent gel base agent.
Source note: this base agent is a transparent gel-forming agent. Appropriate antibacterial agents may be added for preservation according to the intended product and applicable requirements.
Processing notes
Persistent agitation or high-shear agitation after neutralization may cause viscosity loss.
The presence of electrolytes may reduce the thickening efficiency of Carbomer.
Long-term ultraviolet irradiation may reduce the viscosity of Carbomer.
Packaging and storage
Packaging information stated in the supplied product sheet.
Keep the product in a cool and ventilated storage environment as stated in the source sheet.
Validity period stated in the supplied product sheet. Confirm the batch-specific documentation before use.
FAQ
Carbomer is a high-performance polymer and rheology modifier used for thickening and suspending in personal care, household care and industrial formulations. The source sheet lists gels, lotions, creams, shampoos, shower gels, detergents and cleaners among the application directions.
Selection depends on flow behavior, viscosity, clarity, electrolyte tolerance, suspending performance, formulation type and sensory target. Confirm the current technical data sheet before final selection.
Dissolve and fully expand Carbomer in water, add glycerin and mix well, then add triethanolamine to obtain a transparent gel base.
Persistent or high-shear agitation after neutralization may cause viscosity loss. Electrolytes may reduce thickening efficiency, and long-term ultraviolet irradiation may reduce viscosity.
The source sheet lists 20 kg per box, storage in a cool and ventilated place, and a validity period of 24 months.
